Founded in 1961, Check Printers, Inc. has been in the
business of printing checks for banks in Middle Tennessee. Then,
banks had just begun to convert to MICR (Magnetic Ink Character
Recognition), the automation concept that allowed checks to be read by
computers through a magnetic strip that identified the payee's account
to reduce check frauds.
Check Printers grew rapidly as banks adopted the new processing
technology. Since a check printing company’s market was usually limited
to the area within a 100-mile radius of its plant, Check Printers began
to explore new avenues for the growth of their business.
In the early 1970s Check Printers began producing payment books to
capitalize on its MICR technology. They then began to use
computer-driven printers to produce payment books. In using this highly
successful, innovative process, the use of payment books became one of
the fastest-growing sector of the business. Check Printers has evolved
into a leading provider of statement delivery solutions to the financial
service and utility industries.
